Ah! I’ve got a fun one for y’all this morning!
In January, I taught an online editing workshop at Click Photo School (the next run starts May 6th!) and, in the first week of class, I have students work on a series of photographs that are overexposed, underexposed, and correctly exposed. The photographs from this exercise are from this super fun shoot that my bestie Lauren and I shot together in her garage! I was insanely sick during this shoot – Poppy’s pregnancy has been a beast! – but I absolutely loved everything about this little black backdrop shoot. The flowers, the gold frame I scored at Hobby Lobby for a whopping five bucks, Christi’s amazing personality (love her!), the cute bottles, and the Edith Elan dresses we currently have in stock at Opal and June – everything just turned out perfect and I loved every second that we spent creating this simple set!
For this shoot (that I like to call my Black Backdrop shoot – super creative, right?!), I wanted to take a really harsh backdrop and combine it with really bright whites. Finding balance between two stark contrasts can be insane to achieve in post processing and I loved watching my Hue of You students work on these! This shoot was so fun – y’all know I love to shoot anything creative! – and I love the classic bridal makeup Christi created for these photographs. She is such a rad makeup artist – she does a ton of the makeup for Shop Impressions! – and Lauren and I had so much fun hanging with her all morning long!
Here’s the photographs!! I hope y’all love ’em cause I sure do!
