Ahhhh. The yearly reap. The one where I gush about how the year was amazing and inspiring and beautiful and so freaking busy at every twist and turn and how, even in the bad times, I could see a sparkling rainbow. But this year? I’m not even going to go there. I’m going to do this instead!
2017: You were a sassy, salty little beast of a year. And in some ways? That kinda makes me love you.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. When my website was hacked before Christmas, I was officially done with the year and even wrote an Instagram that began like this: “2017, you’re drunk!” and, in the moment, I whole heartedly meant it. 2017 WAS drunk. This was, hands down, the strangest year of my life for so many reasons that I can’t even count but, at least once a month, I heard myself saying this: “This year is really hard and it really, really sucks and I’m kind of super mad about it but I can feel a fire underneath it all and that fire is going to lead to so much growth.” And y’all?! IT HAS!
I can feel that growth underneath every experience I’ve had this year and, because of that, I am ridiculously excited for the new year and all the hope and change and chaos and magic it’s going to bring. 2017 was a colorful little stinker of a year with a whole bunch of wonderful things peppered into the mess and, today, I’m writing about the chaos but I’m sharing so many photographs that are full-on brilliant and amazing and, let’s face it, gold. Thank you for the year, 2017!! You were a show stopper!
