I started my business in the corner of an apartment living room.
I had an IKEA dining room table covered in chalkboard paint and a mason jar to hold all of my pencils together and a dry erase board to keep track of my work flow and, honestly, it was kind of awesome but it was also super in the middle of everything so it was also kind of the worst. So! When we moved into our very first house this past summer, I did what any other former corner-office-dweller would do: I stuck my brand new desk (not table!) into the corner of my brand new office and worked there like crazy all the way through my busy season. And the past few weeks? I’ve spent my downtime turning my office from a pseudo almost-office to the home office of my dreams. “Home office of my dreams” sounds ridiculously cheesy but, really, I just love this space of mine! It feels so refreshing!
For my home office, I wanted to create a space that was bright and friendly but I also wanted it to be soothing and, most importantly, I wanted it to feel like a breath of fresh air whenever I walked in. I also wanted the space to feel creative but not overpowering and, eventually, I decided to use two different paint colors – the lightest of the lightest light pink and the lightest of the lightest light green (in person, my green wall looks like a white wall with a barely-there green tint) – and, from there, decided to decorate the rest of the room with photographs and props from my past photo sessions.
The result was magic! Meet my home office, y’all!
I obviously kept these photographs super classy by including computer cords and a Pioneer Woman jug of water on my desk. It’s all in the details, y’all! And this room is nothing if not cozy!
Eventually, there will be a large wall hanging over the bed in the corner of my office. I went back and forth on what to put in that corner  – my desk used to be there! – but settled on a queen sized bed because it fits flesh up against the walls and it is literally the coziest thing of my life. I predict many post-wedding crashes will take place there in the future and I’m thrilled for them.
And let’s be honest! No office post would be complete without photographs of my boys. These boys are in my office nearly as much as I am – usually with coloring books or Lego’s or dinosaurs or iPads in tow – and I’m so glad they love being in here as much as I do. And would you look at Max?! He’s basically a teenager now and he registered for kindergarten today. #heartbrokenmomalert
Hope y’all liked looking over my office as much as I like being in it!
And now! Time for a link dump!! The gold letters on the wall and the Stay Awesome sign are from Hobby Lobby, my desk is from Overstock, my office chair is from Wayfair, the accent chairs in my office are from local vintage markets, the roller-skates can be seen in a Senior Model session here, table flowers are from Flora, and the adorable orchid on my desk is from Westwood Gardens. Everything else is either Pioneer Woman kitchen decorations (I love her!) or vintage market finds. Unless it’s a sign, and then it’s still totally from Hobby Lobby.
