A little less than two months ago, Andrew and I bundled up our three month old daughter and took her on her very first airplane ride! Poppy took both plane rides like a total champ, grinned like crazy at anyone who made eye contact with her, and basically charmed the entire flight. There’s never more need for community than the first year of a baby’s life and, during this trip, we totally felt it! My mom and sister joined us in Connecticut to babysit Poppy during Chris and Joanne’s wedding and, if that wasn’t enough to warm my heart, my mother-in-law flew out from Utah to stay with the boys while we were gone!
They say it takes a village and they are totally right! I’m so grateful for the amazing women in my life and I’m so excited that Poppy has so many fantastic role models in our family and friend group. I’m so excited for all life has in store for her! And on a cloudy day in October? Life had a rose garden.
After shooting out of state weddings for eight years (insane!!), Andrew and I have our travel game down to a system: we fly out with at least one buffer day to tourist! It doesn’t matter whether we travel to a huge city or a small town, it’s a blast every time! This was the furthest Northeast I’ve ever traveled and I could not get over the trees, the color, or the structure of the town. It was beautiful and I loved the mix of old gardens, old buildings, and modern buildings, too. We went so many places on our day in Hartford – the Wentworth Art Museum was amazing! – and, when we got to the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden, I couldn’t help but snap a few photographs! The colors!! I loved them so much and know y’all will, too!
P.S. This rose garden is also a gorgeous wedding venue! Garden weddings are my dream so, if you’re reading this and you’re getting married here – or any dreamy rose garden – I am your girl!! XO.
P.P.S. YES! We totally went to a ghost tour and the Mark Twain House and it was awesome.
