A few days after Donna and Matt’s wedding, I sat across Kristen at Onyx in Fayetteville and she excitedly pulled out a huge list of things she loved about Donna and Matt’s wedding day and we talked, like, one hundred miles a minute for a good hour about how the day went. We both knew Donna and Matt would have an incredible wedding day from the very first moment we met them at Mama Carmen’s (yes! I just name dropped two awesome coffee shops in Fayetteville!) and, y’all, their Garden Room wedding planned by Samantha at Turner & Co Events did not disappoint. I wasn’t even there and I feel like squealing when I look at their photographs!! Ah! So stoked for these two!! We love our couples, y’all!
Here’s five – YES! Five!! – things Kristen loved about Matt and Donna’s rad wedding day!

One: The personal touches that Donna & Matt incorporated into their wedding!
From the customized sunglasses for all of the groomsmen (complete with nicknames for each guy on the side), to serving beer from Fossil Cove (where they met and their go-to date night spot every week), to the gorgeous art that was displayed behind them during their ceremony. They even had coloring books specially made for the kiddos to color in during the reception! Basically, their whole day I was walking around saying OMG, this is so unique and SO Donna & Matt! And I just love that!
Two: When Eli offered to carry Donna’s train!
Right after Matt and Donna’s first look, Eli – Matt’s son! – told Donna he wanted to help carry her dress so that it could stay white and not get dirty and I swear my heart almost exploded. How freakin’ sweet is he???
Donna was the most beautiful/sweet/relaxed bride EVER
Not only was Donna such a beautiful bride but she was also one of the sweetest and most relaxed brides ever! She had gotten a call that their honeymoon cruise was cancelled and when she told Matt, all she said was “Ah it’s fine! We’re still gonna have a great time!” What bride wouldn’t freak out over that?! But she was just excited to get married and vacay with her husband. That is just Donna for ya! She’s the best!
Four: How LOVED Donna & Matt are and how excited everyone was for them
It was SO apparent how excited everyone was for Donna and Matt to be married. There were tons of fist bumps and high fives and hugs but the best part was that anytime they entered or left a room, people cheered and hoorayed for them!
It happened enough times that I noticed it and started cheering along with them haha!
The Best Man & Maid of Honor Speeches
Seriously y’all. So many tears and laughs happened during these speeches! It is evident what incredible and kind people Donna and Matt are based on what other people had to say about them! My favorite part was hearing Donna’s maid of honor saying she was just glad it could be about Donna for once and that since it was her wedding she had to let them! I was definitely wiping tears away from behind my camera!
Donna and Matt, y’all are just amazing! THANK YOU for having Kristen photograph your wedding and thank you to Kristen for taking the most incredible photographs! THIS – the heart of weddings! – is why I added associate photographers to my business, y’all! There’s so much love out there waiting to be captured and I’m just over the moon with the fact that we were able to photograph three heart-stopping weddings in one very warm, very happy late spring day (see my wedding with Sydney and Jared here and Jamie’s wedding with Casey and Chad here!).
