Elly is a yoga lover with the spunkiest personality (love her!) and Matt is a badass firefighter. Elly grew up in Pittsburgh, Kansas and Matt was raised in Fayetteville. And on a spectacularly rainy day in April? Tehse two lovebirds made things official by tying the knot at The Garden Room on Dickson Street!
Here’s three things I loved about their amazing day! It was so fun!!
One: That Elly wore her mom’s wedding shoes.
Y’all know I’m a sucker for anything sentimental so, when Elly told me she was wearing her mom’s wedding shoes, I basically cheered like a brand new cheerleader at her first varsity football game. This was seriously such a sweet touch and the shoes looked amazing with her wedding dress from Tesori!
Sidenote! Claire wore her mom’s wedding veil last year and I loved that so much, too!
Two: The good luck wedding rain!
Y’all. This spring has been a rainy one and Elly and Matt’s wedding day was no exception. The Garden Room in Fayetteville is such a gorgeous outdoor space and, I’m not going to lie, something about the rain makes it feel even more like a fairy tale. It rained like crazy on Elly and Matt’s day and, right as the ceremony was about to begin, the rain cleared and the birds and bugs (hahaha) chirped and sang along for the entire ceremony and it was incredible!! We made it through the ceremony and family photos and, right as we wrapped them up, it started raining again! This made for such fun portraits!!
Also! Every single time I see this photo of Elly, I break into a huge grin and say “I love her!!” even if I’m totally alone in my office. This girl was a dream bride – love her and her awesome personality so much!
Three: The Toasts!
We’ve heard some awesome toasts in our seven years of photographing Arkansas weddings (#oldies) but the toasts at Elly and Matt’s wedding were freaking hilarious. Everyone laughed so hard and, at one point, Matt’s brother chronicled a story where Matt hid in a shower to scare him while he was in the bathroom. It was amazing and everyone was in stitches. More prank stories at weddings, please!
Elly and Matt, y’all are so much fun and we LOVED your wedding! Congratulations!!
