Do you ever go through time periods where you’re just, like, really quiet?
I’ve totally been going through that the past few weeks! I’ve been really bad about posting on Instagram and Facebook, I ghosted on most of my plans and, yesterday, I sat in my office by myself with headphones blaring for at least thirteen hours and, I’m not going to lie, it was kind of awesome. I also got my very first tattoo (it’s a light meter, of course!), have successfully ignored unpacking my suitcases from Click Away, have planned three different – and slightly crazy! – styled shoots and have been in bed by 10pm every night. I start my normal shooting schedule tomorrow so life is about to ramp up to 150 mph at all times and, y’all, I’m really grateful for this quiet time period I gave myself. Every year, I say that I’m going to slow down in the off season and, every year, March rolls around and I’ve spent the off season working on a million different projects and I haven’t had time to catch my breath. This year, though, I turned all of my 2017 weddings over by the first of February and, since then, I’ve tried really hard to take things slow and take time for myself. This is a big deal!! I even joined – and have regularly attended! – a gym!
Most photographers don’t really have weekends. I shoot most Saturdays and I try to take Sundays and Mondays off but, most of the time, I spend at least six hours working on computer work (blogging, editing, etc.). The past two months, though, I’ve taken five or six days totally to myself – two of which included a whirlwind girls trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (!!!) and Disney World and two of which I spent painting walls and redecorating – and it’s been awesome. After taking a little bit of time and doing non-photography things that I love, I feel so much more energized and recharged and ready to take on 2018.
And one of those things I’m so ready to take back on? Blogging!!
I’m not going to be able to catch up blogging all of my sessions from 2017 (I’m so sad about this!) but, yesterday, I sat down and picked out five of my very favorite not-yet-blogged fall sessions from last year and, today, I’m kicking regular blogging back off with Ashley and Matt’s family session at Mt. Sequoyah!
Ashley and Matt are an awesome couple – Ashley is the most amazing business owner and runs Shop Impressions! – and I have so much much fun every time I photograph them. These two have the sweetest family and their kids have the cutest names and their session in the November leaves was perfect! Seriously!! Can’t get over how much fun this family is and how much I love these!
Ashley and Matt, y’all are gems!! Thanks so much for being the best!
