Who’s ready for an anniversary session?!
Here’s two things you should know about me. ONE! I love shooting by (or in!) water and I really, really love shooting in fog. It’s a dream. TWO! I LOVE anniversary sessions. Like, they make me weirdly giddy and I love them for so many reasons but, most of all, I love them because they celebrate love after marriage. Weddings are my jam but, because my husband is the best husband on the face of the planet, I really, really love marriage and I also love celebrating marriage with awesome couples who want anniversary photographs taken. Because marriage? It is amazing. And if you’re married and reading this? You so need to have anniversary photographs taken. They are magic!
Which brings me to Keri and Skyler! Keri and Skyler live in Kansas City, Missouri (Keri even works with a girl I knew in High School!) and, for their first anniversary, they traveled down to Eureka Springs for a week long celebration. They even brought their wedding cake! And even better? Their session happened under crazy conditions: It poured rain as I drove to Eureka Springs for their session, I got caught in a crazy line of traffic that went on for ages (and, consequently, ended up being a line of pickup traffic for a high school – eek!) and, on top of this, I couldn’t get a hold of Keri to tell her I was running late + check on the weather in Eureka Springs because her phone didn’t have service at their hideout. But! As luck would have it! I got to Thorncrown Chapel just in the nick of time, the rain made the most incredible fog on the lake, and their session was one of those sessions that filled my photography bucket and I was so sad when the session wrapped. It was the best!
I am SO excited to share Keri and Skyler’s anniversary photographs with y’all! These two are so much fun and Keri has, like, the most amazing hair I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Is it weird to say I love her hair? Because I love it!! And y’all will when you see her, too!
Aren’t they so cute?! And do you see what I mean about Keri’s hair? It’s incredible!
Back to the session! After staying at Thorncrown Chapel until closing, we headed up the road to one of my very favorite spots on Beaver Lake. The whole area was totally vacated – so different than it is in the summer! – and, because I am awkward and run my mouth like crazy at sessions (and hey! On this blog, too!), I totally chose this spot to tell Keri and Skyler about my vey favorite podcast which, obviously, is My Favorite Murder. Luckily, Keri and Skyler laughed at my confession and we cracked, like, fifteen jokes afterwards about how they now had a story to tell everyone: That a photographer they had just met led them to a vacant lake and started talking about murder. I’m real cool, guys.
BUT! As (more!) luck would have it, the vacant (almost eery?) lake was the perfect fall backdrop and we got the most amazing photographs in the fog and I am so so thrilled with these and also so grateful that Keri and Skyler chose me to take these anniversary photographs for them. It was so fun!
Happy One Year Anniversary, y’all! Thank you for the most amazing shoot!
