Three Things I Loved About Anna and Jimmy’s Wedding | Lake Wedington in the Fall

Anna and Jimmy’s wedding was two weeks ago and Andrew and I are still gushing over everything,

Well, I’m gushing. Andrew’s gushing as much as a twenty-nine year old man who has been married for seven and a half years (!!!) can be expected to gush. Namely, he’s said, like, four times that, if we got married today, he’d want a wedding just like Anna and Jimmy’s. Ha!

Anna and Jimmy are my kind of people: They are funny and nice and so, so happy and being their wedding photographer has been beyond amazing. I love these two and I am so excited to share three (amazing!) things I loved about their day! It was so hard to choose just three!!

One: Anna and Jimmy’s First Look on a Lake Dock

Story Time! A few weeks before her wedding, Anna mentioned to me that she’d love to do the First Look on a lake dock. I was 100% down with this idea (maybe even 120%?) and, on the day of the wedding, we grabbed Jimmy and headed to a lake dock I used for a few of Shay and Lawson’s wedding portraits nearly two years before. But! The dock was gone! Not to be deterred, we found another dock. But! We got closer and saw that it was condemned (eek!). I knew of one other dock – Lauren and I photographed Jamie on this dock ages ago! – but, even from across the lake, we could see that there was an orange cone roping it off. I however, was not going to let this stop us.

Before even heading over to the other side of the lake, I got out of the car and hunted down a Lake Wedington park ranger, got permission to go on the creaky dock (it was just creaky – not condemned!) and, five minutes later we were set and ready to go.

It. Was. Perfect.

Like, this First Look is what all First Looks want to be. Look at these two, y’all! They are magic!

Three: Anna and Jimmy’s Night Portraits

Anna and Jimmy’s (amazing!) wedding ceremony took place at sunset and, afterwards, we snuck away for a few night portraits. I love this for two reasons. One! Night Portraits are a total challenge for me. They make me think out of the box and, while they often take longer than my normal portrait work, they are so worth the extra time. They’re so unique! Two! Jimmy loves photography and, while dating, Anna and Jimmy spent several nights taking night portraits of the sky. This isn’t something I knew when we took these – Jimmy’s brother mentioned it during his toast! – but I love how these photographs blend memory and love and fun. It’s beautiful.

Also, these two are so in love and so easy to photograph. They’re the bee’s knees.

I have SO many other things to share from Anna and Jimmy’s wedding – like how one of their dogs sang along with the wedding hymns + how Anna’s aunt married them + how Anna’s parents celebrated their 40th (!!!) wedding anniversary on Anna and Jimmy’s wedding day – but I’m going to stop there before I get carried away. Congratulations to these two amazing souls!

And a huge THANK YOU to this awesome team of wedding vendors for pulling off this amazing day!
