I love Madison.
Not only is she clever and well spoken, but she is just one of the loveliest girls I have ever met. I first met Madison two years ago when I found her on Model Mayhem. Our first session was in the middle of June and it was crazy hot outside and, when I said “We’re going to do the session in the water,” Madison thought that she’d be getting her feet wet but instead I dunked her in a creek for my very first set of water photographs. It was awesome! And since then? It’s been so fun keeping up with her via Social Media, photographing her at the fair with my friend Lauren, watching her put together The Miss Belle Pageant, and seeing her gorgeous face published in several different features, including a two page spread in Click Magazine back in March 2014 (that I somehow never blogged about!). Madison has a total heart of gold and I’m super excited to bring her back to the blog today!
Y’all will remember her from this photograph!
She’s absolutely stunning, right?!
So! When I decided that I wanted to photograph a styled session with a gold wedding dress, I sent Madison a message asking if she’d like to be a fake bride for a day because, let’s be honest, the only time I really say “styled shoot” is when I want to sound pretentious or super arty (artsy?) or up to snuff with my photography peers even though, most of the time, I call my styled shoots what they really are: Fake Bridal Sessions. They’re so much fun and full of so much creative freedom and I would shoot them every day if I could but, let’s drop the act: Theses babies are just fake bridal sessions – and amazing ones at that! And when I sent that message? Madison said “Yes!” and, three months later, I found myself standing in the middle of a public park bathroom trying (and failing!) to tug a gorgeous gold dress with a faulty zipper over Madison’s shoulder.
Yes! You read that right! I rented this wedding dress and, because the company I rented it from is awesome, they send two sizes. We knew which one would fit Madison best and, when we went to put it on, the zipper wouldn’t budge over a tricky seam and, for twenty minutes, we tried to get the dress on her in every single way – over her shoulders, stepping in, putting an arm in one shoulder and not the other, basically cutting off the circulation in her body while trying to twist her in (y’all ladies know the drill!) – and, eventually, Madison pulled on the zipper (after pulling it fifty times before!) and it magically worked. We were thrilled, of course, and, as we finally got the dress on her, I couldn’t help but laugh and say “I’m so glad you’re the one wearing this dress!” because, if I’d had this happen with basically anyone else, I probably would have ended up throwing the dress back in the box and calling it a day. That zipper was the worst! But! This dress (and session!) was the best and I am so, so thrilled to share these images with y’all today!
Thanks for modeling for me, Madison! You are the sweetest!!
