Nearly a year ago, my 2015 Senior Model Kelly-Rae told me that she wanted to be a senior photographer.
Being a photographer is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life but, truthfully, it’s also been one of the hardest. It’s hard to learn how to be an artist! There’s so many rules that you need to learn just so that you can break them later on and, when you’re starting, it’s just really hard to find your footing. So! As months passed and time went on and Kelly still wanted to be a photographer, we decided to do a Mentor Session.
Enter Taylor and her senior session in a laundromat.
Taylor was so easy to photograph! I was a total boss at her session – both to her and to Kelly – and, in turn, she handled it like a boss. Taylor’s mom was also at the session and the four of us had so much fun talking about photography and I just loved every single minute. I loved how comfortable Taylor was in front of the camera and, maybe even more, I absolutely loved the clothes she chose for the session. The choker she has on? I wore it every single day of the seventh grade (in 1999, obviously) and everything about her vibe was just totally awesome. I loved photographing this awesome girl!
Here’s a few photographs from our session! Since I was instructing Kelly during the session, I didn’t take as many as usual but I absolutely love the ones we came away with. Thank you for being awesome, Taylor!
