Reagan’s senior session took place during a tornado warning.
Seriously! It went like this: When I arrived at the University of Arkansas to shoot Reagan’s session (the theater department is the nicest and let us shoot in one of their theaters!), it started to rain as soon as I parked my car and, forty-five minutes and several (gorgeous!) photographs of Reagan with a piano later, the rain had stopped and the sun had come out and, with that sun, a whole lot of wind. Reagan and I laughed so hard about the wind – we decided that we would tell everyone that we carried around an industrial size fan just to achieve a natural windblown look – and, as we laughed and took a bunch of photographs, I kept feeling my phone go off in the back of my bag. But! Not one to be distracted by my phone at a session! I kept it in the bag and, as we headed to our last location, I pulled it out expecting to see either a bunch of emails or a bunch of texts from my husband asking what he was supposed to get at the grocery store. I mean, as a business owner and the wife of a husband who does most of the grocery shopping while I’m working, I’m totally used to these kind of notifications.
So! Imagine my surprise when I found a dozen texts from my husband saying that there was a tornado warning and, thirty minutes later, saying that the tornado warning was over. I couldn’t help it! I gasped! I mean, who takes senior photographs during a tornado warning?! And where were the sirens?!
Lucky for us, the tornado never came around, and now Reagan can tell everyone for the rest of her life that she had her senior photographs taken during a tornado warning and that she did not, in fact, pose in front of a huge fan for her photographs. A tornado warning is way more exciting of a story, anyway, and I know this because I’ve seen Twister at least fifty-seven times in my life (my oldest brother, naturally, wanted to be a storm chaser).
But! A little more about Reagan! Reagan is a talent! I could say that she is talented (she totally is) but the truth of it is that she is so talented – dancing, acting, singing, a ridiculous amount of instruments – that she’s surpassed “talented” and gone straight for “talent”. I mean, this girl is seriously impressive! And on top of that? She is so much fun and so sweet and basically a total blast to hang out with. I loved Reagan’s senior session! Everything about it was creative and fun and bright and happy and I am so excited to see where life takes this girl – she is so wonderful!
