Ah! This shoot was so much fun and I am SO excited to share it this morning!
Veronica, Laura, Emily V., Emily R., Lindsey, India, and I met at the University of Arkansas for a Valentine’s Shoot on the very last Saturday of January. It was blustery and cold and surprisingly sunny and, in a nutshell, everything about this session was a total blast. We had heart shaped balloons (plus a zebra one, thanks to Veronica!) and tinsel hearts and random mustaches my husband grabbed at Hobby Lobby and a ruffle backdrop and heart headbands and paper hearts that I cut in one afternoon while Max sat next to me and shredded paper with his kid-friendly, blue handled scissors (homeboy loves cutting paper) and, in the end, we photographed the most Valentine-y photo session that has ever Valen-tined.
Back to those mustaches! The night before this session, Andrew and I were strolling down the aisles of Hobby Lobby and, while I looked for confetti, he pulled out stick-on mustaches and said “You should get these!”. When he said this, I side-eyed him pretty harshly (I hadn’t used a fake mustache as a prop since 2011!) but, because he’s my favorite, I bought the one dollar a pack mustaches and, on my way out the door the next afternoon, I threw them in my bag thinking that I wouldn’t pull them out at all. I mentioned them to the girls, still thinking that none of them would put one on and, three minutes later, I said, “Laura! Your turn!” and, when she stood in front of me in her adorable outfit, daintily holding a tinsel heart and smiling a mega-watt smile, I totally lost it. Without me realizing it, she’d put on a dark mustache and, instead of photographing her, I doubled over laughing so hard that I started to cry and makeup ran all over my face.
It. Was. Awesome.
That moment was awesome, this photo shoot was awesome, and my Senior Models are amazing. I cannot even wait for y’all to see these photographs! This is one of my very favorite Senior Model sessions ever and looking at these photographs just makes me grin. Hope they do the same for y’all, too!
