I don’t even know the right words for this session.
At the end of November, I was bored. I don’t get bored easily. I’ve never lived alone. I’m usually reading at least three books. I like to crochet and beat my husband at MarioKart and look at houses online (more on that later) and cook and bake bread that’s always eaten at the end of day and play super heroes with my kids and color enormous photographs of Superman with glitter crayons and find shark videos and have long, late night discussions with my husband and sometimes I even listen to our vinyl record collection all day long and paint my nails black if I’m feeling kind of quiet and take my kids to the park several times a week, too. I mean, boredom is not something that comes naturally to me.
But! At the end of November! I was totally and completely bored.
I had not put together a styled shoot in months – the last time I put one together was in May, when I photographed Hope (I love her!) with a bunch of butterflies that flew away or fell down dead out of the package (side note: live butterflies are never a good idea) and, as I sat at my computer a week or two before we head to my parents’ house, I sent an email to Bridget, a college freshman at Mizzou who had emailed me last year about modeling opportunities. Lucky for me, she was home from school and, two days after Thanksgiving, as soon as we wrapped up Henry’s first movie (Penguins of Madagascar!), I swung by the grocery store, bought like fifty bucks worth or roses, and met Bridget at James A. Reed Park in Lee’s Summit.
And the session? It was magic! We took these on the last day of November when it was sixty and sunny and gorgeous and perfect. Bridget was the most amazing model – not only is she gorgeous (obviously) and sassy and fun but it was so fun to hear her talk about her freshman year at Mizzou since I went to Mizzou for my freshman year of college and, really, the whole experience was just amazing.
And as for her photographs? Well! I’ll let you see those yourself! Here is Bridget, y’all!
