I realized today that I have been photographing people professionally for over half of my marriage and for all of my post-college life. I’ve always known this is a fact, obviously, but, earlier, I really had the realization of it – that I reached the point years ago of stepping into a session and making it work and stepping out of my comfort zone and doing things I never thought I could do without batting an eye. Photo sessions are just like normal days – sometimes they are super easy and problem free and, other times, things just don’t seem to flow correctly. Not because anyone is doing anything wrong – I can totally be on my A game and the person being photographed can be on their A game but maybe it’s cloudy instead of sunny or a location has changed since the last time I used it or a dress got a rip in it or a lens doesn’t want to focus or there’s traffic that makes the session start late. Things like this happen frequently and, aside from being normal, it just keeps me on my toes. And I love that! I love being kept on my toes!
But! Every once in a while I’ll have a session where everything goes perfectly with virtually no effort whatsoever. I like to call these sessions “Magic Sessions”. And Laura’s session?
It was, like, super magic.
Laura’s session was a total breeze – from the weather to the outfits to the location to the fact that my favorite creek filled back up with water – it could not have gone more smoothly. Laura is one of my 2015 senior models and, as luck would have it, her senior session was the very last model session of the year. Laura is a super sweet, super put together girl and I have had so much fun getting to know her this year! Laura is the kind of person who is determined and focused and all around awesome and I am so excited to see what the world has in store for her after graduation!
