I have been going to Burris Farmers Market in Fairhope, Alabama for as long as I can remember.
It started out pretty simply- I spent half of my childhood in Mobile, Alabama, and whenever we went to the beach, we’d meander through the Farmer’s Market, picking out fruit and breads and honey (oh! the HONEY!) and nuts. To this day, even when I haven’t set foot in this market in years, I can close my eyes and smell it exactly as it has smelled since I was a little girl. I love that. I love that it is still so similar. The signs are the same. The smells are the same. The parking lot is still crowded and, every time we head to Gulf Shores, we stop here along the way. I mean, sure, the drive may be a good ten hours longer than it used to be, but I love this tradition of ours. It’s just fun, y’know?
I busted out my camera while we were here the other week and, in true Maxwell fashion, he picked up a cart and hung out with his Nana Cait for the rest of our visit. That son of mine loves his Nana Cait and loves squealing “My mommy’s mommy is Nana Cait!!” as loud as his little lungs can squeal but, really, that’s a story for another day. Instead! Photographs from the Farmers Market! It’s a good one, I promise.
