I don’t think it will come as a shock to anyone when I say that I love shooting color. L-O-V-E LOVE shooting color with a big fat kiss on the top. I love color and how it translates into photographs. You’ll find this in my photographs. You’ll find this in my wardrobe. You’ll find this if you look through my family blog. You’ll find this if you look at my favorite artwork. You’ll find this if you ask me about my favorite color (all of them!). And when you walk into my home, you’ll find this as well because my home is basically an explosion of color and mixing patterns. I mean, I live dangerously, y’all.
So! Because of this love of color, you’ll probably be surprised to find out that, when I first started really experimenting with photography at the ripe ol’ age of 17, I exclusively shot black and white film. I had a film Rebel for five years before turning digital and, most of the time, I only shot black and whites. I love black and whites! The emotion! The sharpness! The focus on the subject and NOT just the colors! I could get lost in a sea of black and white photographs and be perfectly content until it was time for dinner. It’s a weird phenomenon, I guess, since I don’t do much black and white anymore, but when I do, I fall in love all over again. Because of that, I thought that it would be fun to share a black and white image I shared over at the Daily Project for this before and after.
