One of my favorite memories of my sister growing up is the way she’d lay in our double bed with her crazy curly hair spraying all over her head, dressed in pajamas, as she watched Beethoven ONE more time. One of my other favorite childhood memories of her is watching her play with my box of Barbie Dolls when I was seven and she was three- also with her crazy curly hair bouncing off every direction as she sat in front of the TV (still wearing pajamas)- while my brothers played Duck Hunt behind her. She got bored with the Barbies after a while and, like most three year old girls, she insisted on playing and then she shot down every duck in a way none of our brothers had ever done before (she schooled them in that game!) and proclaimed that she wanted to be a fighter pilot when she grew up.
My sister is closer to me than nearly anyone in the world and, a few times a year, we have impromptu photoshoots. These were taken three weeks after Henry was born and after twenty-one sleepless nights, this was exactly what I needed. Sure, she straightens her hair now and doesn’t walk around in her pajamas all day (every day) anymore, but I love her just the same. So here she is!
