I first met Heather at the library when I was thirty-seven weeks pregnant with my hair in tangles and my pregnancy brain sliding around like a slow avalanche down a super rocky mountain. She stopped me amidst the children’s books to ask if I was a photographer and I’m pretty sure I stared back at her with a blank face for thirty seconds. Me? A Photographer? I couldn’t remember being anything besides a super pregnant lady who was loosely interpretating modified bedrest to take her son to storytime, but eventually I replied a fumbled “Yes! I am!”. She was there with her best friend Dewa and, after mentioning I was on maternity leave, I waddled away. This was not my most proud photographer moment and I angsted about it for the next thirty minutes. But! The next day! I loosely interpretated modified bedrest once again and ran into Heather and Dewa at the park. This time, I was much more myself, we talked photography and mothering, and I waddled away this time angst-free (I was doing a lot of waddling those days).
And then! Several months, a couple phone calls, and several emails later, Heather and I met at Lake Fayetteville for her maternity photos.
(Spoiler: Heather doesn’t waddle.)
I had so much fun meeting Heather and her family last week to take these photos. Heather is so genuine and kind that you just feel at ease right when you meet her. She is such a great mom and you can tell that both her son and her husband just absolutely adore her. This family is the sweetest! I am so excited for them to meet their new addition next month. Congratulations, y’all! Thanks for letting me take these photos!
